Own a piece of history! Wild Mountain is selling the
chairs from Chairlift 3.
Chair Information:
These chairs were sandblasted, primed and repainted in 2021. Additionally, they had new oak slats placed on them in 2021. Each chair is in excellent shape and ready to become heirlooms for all those who purchase them.
The wood slats had a water sealer placed on them in 2021. That sealer has faded and the slats are now ready to accept a wood stain of your choosing.
History:
Chair 3 was the first chairlift installed at Wild Mountain. It was built in 1972 and was a product of the Borvig chairlift manufacturing company (no longer in business).
Pickup:
We are asking all guests to pickup their chairs between 10am and 4pm on Friday, April 28 and Saturday, April 29. Guests will be able to select the chair they’d like to take home. Please keep in-mind that chairs are available on a first come, first served basis.
These chairs are several hundred pounds. Please come with a truck and/or trailer capable of hauling it. Our team will be here with a skid steer to help load chairs onto your vehicle.
Paint & Stain:
Here is the information on original colors of the chair.
Green: We used a product from Hirshfield’s Paint Store in Woodbury. The color was called “Medium Green” and it was a direct-to-metal PPG product. This paint is no longer available, so Hirshfield’s has suggested that the best course of action is to get the paint rematched in a new paint product.
Wood Stain: We originally used Thompson’s Water Seal to bring out the yellow tones in the oak slats. The product has faded away, and we now use the Honey Teak color in the Cabot Australian Timber Oil product found at Menards.
Other Details:
The chair and the slats have been completely refurbished. But, the safety bars have not been refurbished. They can remain on the chair, or they can be removed.
The chair will not come with a grip that attaches it to the metal haul rope.
Sorry, but we are all sold out!
